2015 - a review | 2016 - a preview

At this time of the year we all look back to what happened in the past year and we all look forward and make plans for the coming one. So we do....

2015 was a fulfilling year with beautiful projects and lovely connections to new clients. We did refurbishments and furnishings in different parts of the island and had a busy and interesting year. One of our projects in Cala Llamp/Puerto de Andratx you could see already in the post of August -"Living with contrasts"- and another one in Puerto de Pollença which we are still working on will be posted when it is ready. We worked on different topics to improve the quality of our work, launched a new website, learned a lot about new technologies and materials and increased the range of our suppliers and craftsmen in order to create even more beautiful homes for you. First of all we were very lucky to get new contacts and could work for and with very nice and interesting people.

We want to use this opportunity to thank you, our clients - the new ones and the ones we are working for over years - for your trust in our work, for your appreciation and for your loving kindness.
It is so beautiful to see how strangers become friends through the creation of a new home!
And we want to thank our craftsmen and suppliers for their passion and their reliability. Without your work our work would not be possible.

2016 now has arrived - a blank page, ready to be filled with beautiful colors and new experiences.
Soon we will finish the current project in Puerto de Pollença and for January we have appointments for interesting projects in Bendinat and Son Vida in our agenda. Another important part for this year will be the support for some of our "old" clients who want to scale up their homes.

And we will change our office and home to another place: from February on you can find us in a beautiful 400 years old town house in Sineu, a nice village in the middle of the island. We are very much looking forward to this next step!

We wish you a prosperous year 2016, filled with happiness and sunny moments and hope you will always feel "at home" here on Mallorca.

Living with contrasts....

Living with contrasts......

One of the projects we worked on during the last months we loved very much:
the refurbishment and furnishing of a holiday flat in Cala Llamp/Puerto de Andratx.

The owner´s briefing was to stay with the traditional aspects in this flat which is located in a 40 year old complex and to change the unmodern heavy style to something fresh and light. The flat is a holiday flat for the employees of his company so one important point was to stay neutral color wise and to create an ambient with resistant and easy-to-clean materials.
The original floor in the flat are simple yet beautiful old terra-cotta tiles and we decided to stay with them and just to clean and to seal them with wax. This warm terra-cotta color combined with white walls and doors, creamy fabrics for mattresses and back cushions and white lamp shades bring a calm and inviting atmosphere into the flat. As material for the top for the dining table and for the headboards in the sleeping rooms we chose white stained oak which is a resistant material and brings a different accent to the rooms. And as we are beside the sea and as we love all blue, turquoise and greeny colors we added petrol colored chairs, cushions in linen, cotton and velvet and turquoise poufs, little spots of visual refreshment and a wonderful connection to the blue sky and the water in the bay of Cala Llamp. Light curtains and blinds in linen give a neutral and loose finish and make the room softer and even brighter.
So again we followed our vision of bringing the contrasts of Mallorca´s landscape into the living space:
terra-cotta and oak: earthy-rough-warm | watercolors: soft-smooth-cold | linen and cotton: natural-comfortable-pleasant to touch.

The best feedback we got from the owner himself who spent his childhood holidays in this flat and within the last years hasn´t come anymore because of the old fashioned style. He said - sitting on the corner sofa-:"In this corner I was never sitting, I didn´t like it at all. Now I don´t want to get up! What a pity that the whole year is already booked out with my employees. I would love to spend some days here."
Thank you! This is exactly what we want to achieve.

Here you can see the living and dining area before and after:

The sleeping rooms:

In the main sleeping room we moved the wardrobe doors to the bathroom on the other side in order to get a cozy corner for the bed and the bedside tables. We chose headboard panels to widen the room and to be able to separate the beds. Again white and natural colors plus accents in turquoise bring calmness and freshness into the rooms. The lamps are made from typical mallorquin glasbottles -formerly used for oil and other liquids- and as a special gimmick we hang a photo of Palma´s cathedral in wonderful earthy colors with a dark blue sky on the wall.

The bathrooms were very out of fashion and had some functional issues...now they are very inviting and even one of them is very small they appear spacious and look pure and clean. The glass mosaic in the showers and for the base for the sinks brings a certain atmosphere into the bathrooms and make them quite unique. The baskets make the style more casual and put some warm spots in the white.

Technical refurbishment:
- installation of air condition
- complete change of electrical installation
- complete change of water installation
- new kitchen
- new handles and knobs on doors and wardrobe doors
- new metal blinds
- new tiles on terrace
- new waterproofing system on roof terrace

Summertime...and the living is easy...

Summertime...and the living is easy...

Mallorca.... today is the 16th of July and the sun is burning very hot already...the best place to be now? In the shade and - even better - near refreshing water....

At this time of the year we all are searching for relaxation and for spending a good time with our families and friends. As we are living in South Europe we can enjoy living outside most of the time and bringing our living spaces near to the pool and to the garden. What a wonderful quality of living is this!
